The Dominators: Episode 1 premiered on BBC One in 1968 at 5:15pm BST, watched by 6.10 million viewers.

The TARDIS lands on the peaceful planet of Dulkis. There, the Doctor, Jamie and Zoe discover that the ruthless Dominators have arrived and are enslaving the inhabitants with their deadly robots, the Quarks.

The Doctor and his crew must prevent the destruction of the planet and help the Dulcians fight back.

Kate O'Mara (died 2014 aged 74) would be 85 - 3 credits, including The Rani in The Mark of the Rani

Kate O'Mara was an English film, stage and television actress. 

She was most widely known for her portrayal of strong women such as role as Caress Morell, the sister of Alexis Colby in  Dynasty, The Rani in Doctor Who and Laura Wilde in Howards' Way.

O'Mara made her stage debut in a production of The Merchant of Venice in 1963. Her earliest television appearances included guest roles on Danger Man, Adam Adamant Lives!, The Saint, Z-Cars and The Avengers in the 1960s. In 1970, she appeared in two Hammer Studio horror films; The Vampire Lovers and The Horror of Frankenstein. In 1975, she had a regular role in the BBC drama series The Brothers.

In the early 1980s, O'Mara starred in the BBC soap opera Triangle. In 1985, she was cast as The Rani in the Doctor Who adventure The Mark of the Rani. A  role she reprised in the 1987 story Time and the Rani.

In 1986, she was cast as Caress Morrell in the American primetime soap opera Dynasty. Playing the sister of Alexis Colby (Joan Collins), O'Mara appeared in 17 episodes of the sixth season and 4 episodes of the seventh. She was later cast as another scheming villain, Laura Wilde, in the BBC soap Howards' Way in 1989.

O'Mara continued to make television appearances throughout the 1990s, including Cluedo and Absolutely Fabulous. In 2001, she had a recurring role in the ITV prison drama series Bad Girls before appearing in the short-lived revival of the soap opera Crossroads. 

She also continued to perform on stage and in March 2008 she played Marlene Dietrich in a stage play entitled Lunch with Marlene. From August to November 2008, she played Mrs Cheveley in Oscar Wilde's stage play 'An Ideal Husband' directed by Peter Hall and produced by Bill Kenwright.


Murray Melvin (died 2023 aged 90) would be 92 - 5 credits, including Bilis Manger in Captain Jack Harkness(TW)

Murray Melvin was an English stage and film actor.

The son of Hugh Victor Melvin and Maisie Winifred Driscoll, he was known for having created the role of Geoffrey in the Shelagh Delaney play, A Taste of Honey, which he also performed opposite Rita Tushingham in the 1961 film A Taste of Honey. In 1962 he won Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival for his performance, and was also nominated for the BAFTA "Most Promising Newcomer" award.

Melvin joined Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop company at the Theatre Royal Stratford East while still a student. In 1958, he appeared in productions of Brendan Behan's The Hostage. In 1963, he was in the original cast of Oh, What a Lovely War!.

He appeared in the very first episode of the cult television series The Avengers in 1960. Melvin's other film appearances have included roles in Alfie, and since 1964, regular appearances in the films of director Ken Russell, beginning with Diary of a Nobody and continuing withThe Devils (as the scheming, but ultimately deceived, Father Mignon), The Boy Friend and cameos inLisztomania and Prisoner of Honor. He had an important role as Reverend Samuel Runt in Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon (1975). He also appeared in Crossed Swords (1977) and the Italian mini-series Christopher Columbus (1985).

In 1998 he appeared in a Christmas Special episode of the BBC's Jonathan Creek called "The Black Canary".

In 2004 he appeared as Monsieur Reyer, the musical director and conductor of the Opera Populaire, in the film adaptation of the musical The Phantom of the Opera.

Melvin returned to the Theatre Royal as trustee and archivist and it is partly in this role that he is becoming widely known as a learned and popular film historian - he can be seen and heard, for example, on the BFI DVD release of the Bill Douglas Trilogy.

In 2007 he appeared as the sinister Bilis Manger in the Doctor Who spinoff, Torchwood.

In July 2011 Murray Melvin played The Professor in a short comedy/drama called The Grey Mile, a story about two ex master criminals who are now confined to a care home. The film, written by Jonathan Parramint and Simon Janes, co-stars Paul Shane as Terry 'The Taxman' Tempest and Maggie Tulip as Miss Match. The film was shot on location at Wolterton Hall in Norfolk.

Peter Diamond (died 2004 aged 74) would be 95 - 10 credits, including Fight Arranger for The Space Museum

Peter Diamond was an English actor who as a regular contributor to Doctor Who in the 1960s, as a fight arranger and actor.

He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and his appearances total over 1,000 credits in the industry as a stuntman, co-ordinator or fight arranger.

He appeared as the Tusken Raider who attacked Luke Skywalker in the firstStar Wars Episode IV: A New Hope film. He also contributed to the sequels Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

His film credits include several Carry On films, Never Let GoFrom Russia with LoveDracula: Prince of DarknessAn American Werewolf in LondonRaiders of the Lost Ark, and Highlander, where he played the immortal Iman Fasil.

He was stunt coordinator/swordmaster on the 1990 TV series Zorro and acted in three episodes, two as Sir Edmund Kendall who taught Diego de la Vega (Zorro) to swordfight, and directed eight episodes. This series was filmed in Madrid, Spain for the U.S. ABC Family channel.

Kathleen Heath was an actress with a large number of credits in British TV Drama. 

Roles include parts in Emma, The Ghost Goes Gear and Break in the Sun.

Patrick O'Connell (died 2017 aged 83) - credited as Ashton in The Dalek Invasion of Earth

Patrick O'Connell was a retired Irish actor known for numerous performances on UK television and in films.

He was brought up in BirminghamEngland and after working in the office of a department store he trained as an actor at RADA. He then appeared in repertory theatre, at the Royal Court Theatre and with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Colin Eggleston was Film Editor for the 1966 Doctor Who story The Smugglers.


Rex Tucker (died 1996 aged 83) - credited as Director for The Gunfighters

Amongst his work, he was a driving force during the formative stages of Doctor Who in 1963, acting as a caretaker producer prior to the arrival of Verity Lambert. Tucker's friend, the actor and director Hugh David � whom Tucker had actually approached about playing the leading role in the series � later claimed in interviews that it was Tucker who had named the series Doctor Who, although Tucker himself credited Sydney Newman with this. Tucker was also the director originally assigned to the first serial, An Unearthly Child, and later it had been planned that Tucker would direct more of the programme's introductory season. However, these commitments did not work out, and ultimately he directed only The Gunfighters in 1966. During the last episode, The O.K. Corral, a dispute arose between Tucker and then producer Innes Lloyd over the editing of the episode, leading to Tucker requesting that his credit be excised.

The director is played by Andrew Woodall in the 50th Anniversary drama An Adventure In Space And Time.
