Shobu Kapoor is a British actress.

She is most notable for playing the role of Gita Kapoor, the long suffering wife of the market-trader Sanjay (Deepak Verma), in the popular BBC soap operaEastEnders (1993–1998). Shobu Kapoor is a vegetarian.

Kapoor left the show in 1998 and has since had roles in the 2002 film Bend It Like BeckhamThe Bill (2004), the Asian comedyChicken Tikka Masala (2005), Casualty (2005) and Doctors (2000, 2001, 2006, 2008). In 2006 she appeared in the BBC dramaBanglatown Banquet.

Kapoor Played Taj's mother in the film Van Wilder 2: Rise of the Taj, which was released on December 1, 2006 and the role of Mrs. Kahn in Mischief Night.

In 2006 she played Talayeh Kirmani in the Irish soap Fair City on RTE and in 2007 she played the minor role of Umi in the Channel 4drama, Shameless.

In 2008, she appeared in the series 4 finalé of Doctor Who.

She played the role of Meredith Kercher's mother in Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy in 2011.

She is currently playing the role of Shazia Malik on the BBC Asian Network radio soap Silver Street and was a participant in the 2011 series of Celebrity MasterChef.
