As well as Doctor Who, other television roles included The Bill, Squadron, Passion Killers and The League of Gentlemen. Film roles included Lola's Dad in Kinky Boots, Cigar Man in Children of Men, and Desmond Tutu in The Lady.
His final role was as Junior in Some Girls, which included a caption in memory of him upon broadcast.
