Harry Lloyd  is an English actor born in London, England; and is the great-great-great-grandson of the Victorian writer Charles Dickens.

Lloyd was educated at Eton College and made his TV debut at the age of 16 as James Steerforth in the BBC's 1999 adaptation of David Copperfield. He played Will Scarlet in the first two seasons of the BBC drama Robin Hood which began in 2006

In early 2007, Lloyd made his professional stage debut, at the Trafalgar Studios in A Gaggle of Saints. He was cast in Doctor Who as Jeremy Baines, a student whose mind is taken over by a species of aliens called The Family of Blood. He had been suggested as a possible candidate to play the Doctor when David Tennant left the role, based on a comment made by Russell T Davies in an interview with PR Wire.
