The Curse of the Daleks was commissioned to cash in on the "Dalekmania" phenomenon that the UK was experiencing in 1965, with the play opening at the Wyndham Theatre in London on the 21st December for the Christmas period. It ran until the 15th January 1966 with child-friendly daytime performances.
