Juno Dawson

Born: Tuesday 18th July 1989 (age: 36)

Juno Dawson is a British author, screenwriter, and advocate, best known for her work in young adult fiction and her exploration of themes around identity, gender, and mental health.

Dawson’s debut novel was Clearing the Air (2013), however, it was her second book, Hollow Pike (2011), a dark and atmospheric young adult novel, that really made a mark in the literary world.

Dawson is a transgender woman, and her experiences with transitioning have played a significant role in both her life and her work. Her memoir, This Book is Gay (2014), is a candid, humorous, and informative exploration of LGBTQ+ issues, aimed at young readers and offering them guidance on topics such as sexuality, relationships, and self-acceptance.

Her writing also extends to other young adult novels, including All of the Above (2016), The Gender Games (2017), and Meat Market (2019), where she continues to focus on the themes of gender, identity, and the complexities of modern relationships.

In addition to her fiction work, Juno has made several media appearances, including writing articles and appearing on radio and television. She advocates for better representation of trans people in the media and encourages dialogue on issues related to gender and mental health.
