Gary Connery is a professional stuntman and base jumper has made countless appearances on the TV and cinema screen on a UK and and international basis working on movies such as Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, Harry Potter, The Beach, the Bond movie “Die another Day” by contrast, the spoof spy thriller “Johnny Engish

On the TV screen he has featured as stuntman in the soap Coronation Street, Prime Suspect, Spooks, Silent Witness, Inspector Lynley, The Bill, Waking the Dead, Taggart, Torchwood ,Vincent, Monarch of the Glen, Wire in the Blood, Foyles War and Hornblower to name but a few.

Gary has been base jumping for several years. BASE Jumping is the sport of parachuting from fixed objects such as bridges and cliffs. BASE is an acronym standing for Building, Aerial, Span, Earth, these being the four objects that must be jumped in order to qualify for a BASE number.

He has previously ridden off Beachy Head on a mountain bike and parachuted from London’s Nelson’s Column the Eiffel Tower in Paris, from inside the top of the Millennium Dome and more recently attracted huge publicity when he base jumped from the London Eye after swimming the Thames, climbing up the internationally recognised London icon and throwing himself off the top parachuting safely to the ground from the 443ft high wheel dressed in a James Bond style black tuxedo.

On 23 May 2012 he set a new world record when he jumped from a helicopter at 2400 feet (730 m) without a parachute and wearing only a "wingsuit", landing on a giant stack of cardboard boxes and becoming the first skydiver in the world to land without the use of a parachute. This took place on Temple Island Meadows near Henley-on-Thames, UK.
