Jillie Meers
Radio actress who appeared in several audio Doctor Who stories
Jillie Meers was born in Birmingham, to a South Welsh family, and trained at the Birmingham School of Speech Training and Dramatic Art for three years. She began her career at the Old Bham Rep., going on to gain further experience in seasons at The Byre Theatre, Colchester Rep., Folkestone Rep., The Alexandra Theatre Bham., The Sherman Theatre Cardiff, The Belgrade Theatre Coventry and The Northcott Theatre Exeter.
She has also been in touring productions and worked for a period at the Royal Court Theatre where she understudied Rachel Roberts in "Alpha Beta" before playing the role herself at Coventry. Also at the Royal Court, she played Miss Dallow in "Pretty Boy" by Stephen Poliakoff.
She has played regular characters in 5 different TV series, (please see clips below,) plus an 18 month contract with English By Radio (World Service) plus 2 periods as a member of the BBC Radio Drama Company.
Most recently, Jillie played Carol in the film "English Bloody Rose", written and directed by Alex Jones for Losky Films: The character Ma in "Tinned Peaches In Syrup" - also by Alex Jones, a rehearsed play reading at the Tristan Bates Theatre: The character Mary Winter in "Two Pipe Problems" a second series for BBC Radio 4 by CBL productions..
