John Benton
Benton was a member of UNIT, serving before, during, and after the Third Doctor's exile on Earth.
He was promoted from Corporal to the rank of Warrant Officer Class 1, holding the post of Regimental Sergeant Major.
While he was mostly associated with the Doctor in his third incarnation, Benton also found himself serving in a companion-like role to the Second Doctor during the First Omega Crisis.
