Rupert Graves is an English filmtelevision and theatre actor. He is known for his early roles in A Room with a View and Maurice as well as for his more recent role as DI Lestrade in the television series Sherlock.

He was born in Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, England, to Mary Lousilla (n�e Roberts) Graves, a travel coordinator, and Richard Harding Graves, a music teacher and musician.

Graves was educated at Wyvern Community School, a state comprehensive school in his home town of Weston-super-Mare, which he left at the age of fifteen.

Graves's first job after leaving school was as a circus clown. He has appeared in over twenty-five films and over thirty-five television productions; he has also appeared on stage. During his career, he has starred alongside actress Helena Bonham Carter four times in A Room with a ViewMauriceWhere Angels Fear to Tread and The Revengers' Comedies.

He first came to prominence in costume-drama adaptations of E. M. Forster's novels A Room with a View (1985) and Maurice (1987), before going on to appear in films including A Handful of Dust (1988), Different for Girls (1996) and Intimate Relations (1996).

His role in Intimate Relations won him the Best Actor award at the 1996 Montreal World Film Festival. He was also acclaimed for his portrayal of Jolyon Forsyte Jr. in the televisionminiseries The Forsyte Saga (2002).

Glyn Houston (died 2019 aged 93) - 2 credits, including Professor Watson in The Hand Of Fear
Glyn Houston is a british actor best known for his television work, with over 200 credits dating back to the 1950s and appearing in some of the most loved programmes in British TV history.

Houston served in the army prior to and during World War 2, and was briefly a stand-up comedian performing to soldiers during the war. He made his first film appearance playing a barrow boy in The Blue Lamp in 1950. In the 1970s he played Lord Peter Wimsey's valet Bunter opposite Ian Carmichael in the teleplays of several of Dorothy Sayers tales. He played Ronald Judge in The Sherman Plays and Bernard Ingham in Thatcher: The Final Days.

Edward Burnham (died 2015 aged 98) - 2 credits, including Professor Watkins in The Invasion

Edward Burnham had two major roles in Doctor Who. In 1968 he played Professor Watkins, the uncle of Isobel, in 4 episodes of the second Doctor story The Invasion. He returned to the series at the end of 1974 in Tom Baker's début story Robot, playing Professor Kettlewell, the creator of the Experimental Prototype Robot K1. 

He was born in Stafford in England.

Edward Burnham was an actor for over 60 years, appearing on Television as early as 1938 in productions of The Marvellous History of St. Bernard and The Swiss Family Robinson. In 1959 he appeared in the science fiction series Quatermass and the Pit. Other roles followed in productions such as The Citadel, Z Cars, The Plane Makers, To Sir, with Love, The Pallisers, The Search for the Nile, Churchill's People, All Creatures Great and Small and Nicholas Nickleby. In the early 1960's he played Dr. Dorking and Dr. Danvers White in Emergency-Ward 10 and in 1985 he played Mr. Grimwig in Terrance Dicks's production of Oliver Twist. He also appeared in the feature films 10 Rillington Place, Young Winston and The Hiding Place

 

His Daughter Vin Burnham is a costume and puppet designer who worked as a free-lance contributor to several Creature Shop projects in the 80s and 90s. 


David Webb (died 2012 aged 81) - credited as Leeson in Colony In Space

Born in Luton in 1931, David Webb was an achiever in his early life, becoming best boy at Luton Grammar School and later a sergeant in the Army Education Corps, and then gaining a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. During his career he appeared in hundreds of television programmes, which as well as Leeson in Doctor Who also included a prominent role in the early days of Coronation Street - his prolific work earned him the title "Telly Tart"!

His career also encompassed films, such as The Battle of Britain, and he also served on the Equity Council. As well as being an actor, he was a major campaigner against censorship, being a founder and director of the National Campaign for the Reform of the Obscene Publications Acts.
